Melissa Wetherington
MSW
Melissa works with adult individuals. She received her MSW from Valdosta State University and has worked in the behavioral health arena for more than thirty years. Melissa believes that there is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to therapy. Every person is different, and their journey requires individualized treatment, tailored to meet their unique needs. She uses a multidisciplinary approach of evidence-based methods to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief, and other life transitions.
Melissa enjoys working with clients who are dealing with trauma; she is trained in EMDR and Certified in The BLAST Technique. BLAST (Bilateral Analysis and Stimulation Treatment) technique is a form of trauma therapy that uses guided eye movements to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories, so they no longer cause distress.
Melissa offers a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share your story. Her goal is to ensure you feel supported, understood, and valued. Finding the right therapist is like finding the perfect pair of shoes; it should be a supportive and comfortable fit.
