Kori Thompson

Educational Specialist

With 10 years of experience in School Counseling, Kori is committed to helping students unlock their full academic, social, and emotional potential. She specializes in guiding students through transitions, whether it's adjusting to a new school year, navigating challenges, or discovering their strengths. Kori believes in the power of collaboration between parents and schools and enjoys being the link that fosters meaningful partnerships to support student growth.

Through educational coaching, Kori helps students set and achieve personalized goals related to academics, executive function, and self-advocacy, all while building their confidence, motivation, and essential life skills.

In addition to educational coaching, Kori provides counseling to help students navigate social and emotional challenges, such as peer relationships, anxiety, depression, identity, family conflict, and classroom challenges. She works closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.

Kori is dedicated to helping parents navigate processes within schools, including 504 plans and IEPs. She works closely with parents to help them understand how various evaluations (ADHD, ASD, neuropsychological) translate into the development of appropriate supports and interventions within the school setting. Equally, she works with schools to help them understand the unique needs of students and develop practices that are both effective and sustainable. By focusing on strategies that work, Kori aims to create lasting change that benefits students in the long term.

Most importantly, Kori prioritizes empowering children to advocate for themselves. She firmly believes that one of the most important gifts we can give children is the ability to find and use their voice, both in the classroom and beyond.
